An astonishing beautiful Tree Orchid
Mid May 2015, my husband René and I were on our way to Machame. We drove past the green fields were the corn planted in the beginning of the rainy season had grown very tall. A few days earlier, Sylvie Emmanuel had given me a phone call that her special Orchid was flowering, so the timing was perfect to visit her garden to see this Orchid. When we arrived at the house of Nick and Sylvie Emmanuel, we were touched by their hospitality. They showed us around in their beautiful garden, which not only was an accumulation of flowering plants and trees, but was breathing the air of a long history, not only because of the tall trees where climbers had find their way up to the canopy, but also the time that had passed from 'good old memories' till recent times. The altitude of their farmhouse is approximately 1150 meters and in this moderate, but in summertime quite hot climate, the plants were flourishing. The highlight of our visit was to see the flowering Orchid in the tree behind their house. It was worth making the drive, this Orchid was flowering astonishing! Nick and Sylvie Emmanuel, thank you very much for your hospitality and the mandarins from the garden we were allowed to take home.

Spring in the Netherlands: Keukenhof
For me it came as a real surprice, my daughter got a job at the Keukenhof in the Netherlands, so she also started working with flowers! She showed me around at of course I spent some time with the amazing Orchids and Anthuriums. I must admit...my flowershop is nothing compared to this paradise!
